It was a double celebration for Unity Trust Bank after being crowned Greater Birmingham Business of the Year 2023 and winning Excellence in Contribution to the Community at the prestigious Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce Awards.
Eighty-three businesses entered this year’s awards. Judges chose the overall Business of the Year from the 12 category winners on the night.
Unity won Excellence in Contribution to the Community following the launch of its employee-led Unity & Me programme, volunteering and fundraising initiatives and new charity partnerships.
Deborah Hazell, is the CEO at Unity. She said: “We’re thrilled to have won these two awards and proud to be headquartered in Birmingham city centre.
“Winning Excellence in Contribution to the Community really validates our achievements in pursuit of our mission. It is such wonderful recognition of the great things we all do.

Katrina Cooke is the GBCC’s chief commercial officer and chair of the awards judging panel. She said: “A huge congratulations to Unity Trust Bank on winning the Greater Birmingham Business of the Year award.
“The judges were extremely impressed by the standard of entries for this year’s awards. This reflects the breadth, diversity and talent of businesses across the region.
“Thank you to all those who took the time to enter.”
The awards were held at the ICC on Thursday, March 16. Unity was also proud to sponsor the Excellence in the Third Sector category, which aligns closely with our values.
