Unity Trust Bank vote Edward’s Trust as Charity of the Year

Every year at Unity Trust Bank, we choose a charity to support through volunteering, fundraising and awareness raising throughout the year.

This year, Unity Trust Bank colleagues have voted overwhelmingly to support Edward’s Trust as our Charity of the Year for 2018.

Edward’s Trust provides holistic family bereavement services supporting children, young people and parents across the West Midlands. Their service extends to a full programme of bereavement support including; one-to-one counselling, support groups, specialist respite bereavement retreats, children’s social activities, a wellbeing service and supports over 600 families every year.

As a Birmingham based a commercial bank with a difference, Unity  offers an ethical alternative for businesses with a social conscience. We focus on delivering positive social impact, not simply maximising profit. This is known as our ‘double bottom line’ strategy.

It’s important to us that our team shares our vision – that’s why each member of our team is given five paid volunteering days each year to dedicate to causes they believe in.

Richard Rose, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, explains:

“Here at Unity we’re very proud of our Unity in the Community initiative; now in its 9th year. The staff do a great job raising funds for good causes. Through their volunteering days and activities, we can support many great organisations that all do fantastic work. We’re thrilled to offer focus on Edward’s Trust in 2018.”

Lucy Goodway, Engagement Coordinator at Edward’s Trust, shared her thanks:

“The lovely colleagues from Unity Trust Bank volunteered for us on a number of occasions back in 2017, whether tidying up our garden or organising the cellar, nothing is ever too much trouble. We love their idea of ‘Unity in the Community’ and they do just that. We are really looking forward to being Unity’s named charity this year, and all the potential good will that comes with it! Hearing this news last week was very exciting. Edward’s Trust can’t wait to support Unity Trust Bank with their fantastic fundraising opportunities and much more.”
