Unity Trust Bank has been shortlisted for ‘Excellence in Contribution to the Community’ at the prestigious Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce Awards 2025.
Established in 1813, the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) has a mission to connect, support and grow local businesses so they can reach their full potential.
The GBCC annual awards dinner celebrates the best in Greater Birmingham business and recognises the achievements of those who have demonstrated excellence in their field.
This year, 62 businesses from across the region are shortlisted for 11 sector awards. One of the category winners will then be named overall ‘Greater Birmingham Business of the Year’, which Unity won in 2023.
‘Excellence in Contribution to the Community’ is an award that celebrates businesses making a committed and proactive contribution to the enhancement and benefit of their community.
Colin Fyfe, CEO at Unity Trust Bank, said: “We’re delighted to be shortlisted for this award in recognition of Unity’s 40-year heritage of delivering community impact, which is an integral part of our company values.
“As an ethical bank, our mission is to help create a better society. We’re proud to support socially-minded organisations across the UK that are driving forward positive change, in sectors that provide vital frontline services to communities and individuals most in need.
“As well as supporting our customers to deliver social good, we also uphold our own commitments as a responsible business through our employee-led ‘Unity & Me’ programme, which empowers staff to deliver positive outcomes through volunteering, donations and fundraising.”
GBCC’s Director of Membership, and Chair of the GBBC Awards judging panel, Lillian Elekan, said:
“Once again, our expert judging panel were very impressed by the high quality and diversity of entries for the awards.
We would like to thank the panel for their time and diligence in reviewing applications. We also commend the huge number of companies who took the time to complete entries.
“Congratulations to all those who are nominated and we look forward to celebrating at the ICC on the night.”
With its headquarters in Brindleyplace, Unity is an active member of the GBCC. The bank’s CEO, Colin Fyfe, was recently elected to the Chamber Council, joining a distinguished group of leaders who are helping to shape the region’s business landscape.
The winners of the GBCC Awards will be announced at a celebration dinner on Thursday 27 February 2025 at the ICC in Birmingham.
