Unity Trust Bank sponsors Responsible Finance Member Day 2023

Published: December 5, 2023

Unity Trust Bank is proud to sponsor the 2023 Responsible Finance Member Day, an annual event for members, partners, stakeholders and supporters of community and social finance.

As an ethical bank, Unity has been a supporter of Responsible Finance and the sector for many years and we were proud to sponsor last week’s 2023 Member Day, which took place on 22 November in Birmingham.

Responsible Finance

Responsible Finance is the national membership body for responsible finance providers. With over 50 members and supporters, its vision is to create a fair financial system in the UK. It aims to scale up the community development finance sector, enabling investment to flow into communities and create positive economic, social and environmental impact.

At Unity, we’re committed to helping businesses grow and prosper through responsible finance. We work with a range of Community Development Finance Institutions (CDFIs) that specialise in funding and supporting SMEs and social enterprises in their communities.

The annual Responsible Finance Member Day invites attendees to network, share best practice and find new and innovative ways to boost access to finance for individuals and businesses.

This year’s event included a series of practical workshops and peer-to-peer support sessions. It’s designed help empower members with the knowledge and tools they need to further develop their organisation.

Jason James, Relationship Manager at Unity Trust Bank, comments:

“At Unity, we understand the value and importance of CDFIs in helping to promote access to fair and affordable financing. In 2022, there was an additional £1.6 million leveraged into CDFIs from Unity lending. We’re committed to supporting the sector so that social purpose organisations can continue to grow and thrive. This year’s Member Day was a great opportunity to see the positive impact of this funding first-hand.”

Theodora Hadjimichael, chief executive of Responsible Finance, said:

“Unity Trust Bank has long been an invaluable partner to our sector. They help our members to boost business growth, create jobs and address regional and demographic under-representation in accessing finance. The bank’s work with community development finance institutions shows that investing for social, environmental and economic returns makes business sense. We welcome Unity’s involvement in our Member Day, the biggest annual get-together for CDFIs. We also look forward to long and impactful work together in future.”
